According to the notification of the Ministry of Labour and Employment dated 24/07/2018, No. 40.00.0000.020.012.03.2018 (Part-3) -372, the scope of work of the Regional Labour Office, Faridpur is as follows:
The following five districts are under the jurisdiction of Regional Labour Office, Faridpur; such as Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Rajbari and Gopalganj.
01. Registration of trade unions in industrial relations and trade union of workers working in industries outside the jurisdiction of the Divisional Labour Office;
02. To carry out the overall responsibility of trade union activities in the designated industries;
03. To investigate for any offenses or for misconduct or anti-trade union discrimination, or for violating any provisions relating to trade union and industrial relations;
04. To file a complaint to the Labour Court for any offense or for misconduct or anti-trade union discrimination or for breach of any provision in the trade union and industrial relations;
05. Determining which trade union is entitled to be certified as a joint negotiating agent for an industry/industries;
06. To oversee the election of the executive committee of the trade union and to supervise the secret election outside the scope of work of the Divisional Labour Office under its jurisdiction;
07. To act as an arbitrator in any industrial dispute;
08. Oversee the work and election of the participating committees;
09. Verifying the annual return (accounts statement) of trade unions;
10. Sending daily labour situation reports;
11. To perform any of the duties assigned to it by the labour law or rules, section;
12. Perform all administrative, financial and audit functions of the jurisdiction;
13. To perform any other duties assigned by the Director General; And
14. Miscellaneous.
